back to the coast

there has been a MAJOR heatwave in the pacific nw
and we just couldn't take the record heat any longer....
so we packed up the fam and headed out to the coast
where the temps were a good 30 degrees cooler than in the valley!
thad found an awesome campside right on the siletz river,
just south of lincoln city. we lucked out and got a
treehouse cabin, complete with fridge, microwave, cable
and WIFI! who knew a 10x10 cabin could offer so many luxe amenities!?

up and went down to gleneden beach to watch the sunset...

we took a scenic drive up the 101
and checked out cape kiwanda
and the beaches near cape lookout.
it was an absolutely perfect day on the coast,
sunny and in the 70's, blue skies and
tons of people out and about enjoying the day.

our last day on the coast we drove down to newport
and saw lots of sea lions, got ice cream cones
on the bay front and went to the oregon coast aquarium...
a great end to a really fun trip!

multnomah falls

cousin olivia was in portland for a few weeks, and
she got the honor of being the 1st of the arizona family members to
meet jz! jackson and i met olivia, her aunt marina,
cousin tamera (we hadn't seen each other in 20+ years!!!?)
and her adorable son brayden at multnomah falls.
we played tourists at the falls, cooled off in the stream
and went for lunch- where tamera
gave jackson his very first baby mum mum cracker (his new fave!)
it was so great to see everyone and catch up-
and olivia even said she'd babysit when we are in
phoenix in august! woo hoo!!!

we had a great time being back in bend for a few days....
the schmid's were off vacay-ing in whistler (missed you guys!!!!)
so we got to house/pet sit clyde & eppi, went on lots of walks,
hung out with our old bend friends, bbq'd
and just enjoyed being back in our old 'hood...
jackson really liked playing with all of ben's cool toys too!

farmer's market

all the time we lived in bend i never went to the
farmer's market at drake park...jackson and i met
up with auntie amy and finally got to scope it out.
it was SUCH a scorcher (96 degrees!?!) i had to drive jz's stroller
thru a sprinkler on our walk there...after a quick spin around
the market and some delicious purchases (mushrooms & blackberries
for amy, rainier cherries for me) we found a shady
spot to catch up and enjoy our icy gingerales! yum!!!
