after our camping trip we drove up to yachats
and were lucky enough to stay at the schmid's awesome house
once again. it was a chilly, rainy weekend- perfect weather
for hanging out, watching the waves and just relaxing.
we even had a fabulous whale sighting right in front
of the house and saw a dolphin too! very cool.

friday we packed up the crew and drove out to the coast
for jackson's 1st camping trip. we camped at carter lake,
just south of florence- a really pretty spot.
thad did some fishing at the lake while mister, jackson and
i held down the fort and took a walk on the beach.
we had originally planned to sleep in the screen tent,
but a little rain storm came through, so we decided to
set up thad's little tent inside the big tent- cozy!
despite a little rain, a good time was had by all...

4th of july

we started jackson's very first 4th of july
off right by checking out the "giant parade" in downtown molalla...
the streets were lined with people and
there were tons of horses, some floats and even
the rodeo queen was there! talk about star-studded!!!

after the parade we were roasting hot so
we tried to find a shady, uncrowded spot along the
river to take a quick dip (ya...right!)
we then went on to plan b---
acquire a kiddie pool and somehow
get it back to the farm...mission accomplished!!!!
we threw the thing on the roof and held on for dear life.
back at the farm, EVERYONE went swimming-
including jackson and mister...

olallie lake

we took nice, scenic drive out to olallie lake today-
it's about 2 hours from molalla and VERY pretty.
mostly it was a scouting mission for future camping/fishing trips
and it was gorgeous, with a fabulous view of mt jefferson.
there were tons of great campsites right on the lake
and even row boats to rent for the day!
we will definitely be going back soon!
